Francisco Palmieri, a Senior Foreign Service Officer with 33 years of diplomatic experience, is currently a Senior Fellow at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs at Yale. His career includes serving in the executive office of six different Secretaries of State and on the National Security Council. He was responsible for managing the State Department's Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs' 53 overseas US diplomatic missions, with 12,000 employees, and implementing the Hemisphere's $1.58B foreign assistance and $290M operating budgets. In 2017 - 2018, he served as the Acting Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs where he led State Department efforts to advance U.S. foreign policy goals in the region.
